Art Therapy

“The object isn’t to make art,

it’s to be in that wonderful state

which makes art inevitable.”

Robert Henri

…a non-verbal healing modality that reaches across barriers of all kinds.

Art Therapy sessions provide an opportunity for:

  • Stress relief & relaxation

  • Present moment awareness

  • Creative expression & play

  • Personal empowerment

  • Healthy risk taking & problem solving

  • Positive visioning

  • Personal reflection, insight and growth

Made by adults in recovery, each tree represents an anchored, nourished, centered, and growing self free of addiction.

Each art therapy session takes an embodied mindfulness approach and includes:

  • a short, guided centering practice

  • an introduction to session theme and materials

  • a period of quiet hands-on, process-oriented, creative engagement

  • a supportive, non-judgmental reflection circle

A session may include drawing, painting, writing, collage, mixed media, clay, sculpture, or a combination of mediums.

Each session, each experience, and each artwork are totally unique…

Often individuals wary of art making discover to their relief, even astonishment, that they enjoy the sessions!
